With new leadership and a dynamic music director, the San Diego Symphony set out to become an innovative and global institution. Key to this transformation were the construction of a new outdoor venue and the renovation of its historic 100-year-old concert hall.
Initially hired to design signage for the new venue, we encouraged the Symphony to begin with a reimagined brand—one that could fully reflect its ambitious future. That conversation sparked a multi-year partnership.
At the heart of the new identity is an elegant design of intertwined circles. These represent the Symphony’s deep ties to the community, the relationship between conductor and orchestra, and the radiant energy that audiences experience.
